  It varies depending on how your printer is set up and if you are printing documents or pictures. They will print from 200-500 pages of documents. If you are printing images with high pixels it empties really fast.

  The answer is no. All cartridges must be replaced when they are empty including the color cartridges or the printer will not work. A printer will only work when all cartridges have been replaced when they run out.

Just wanting to make sure i am ordering the right thing since i've been to both office max and in staples and i've brought home the wrong cartridge (with the help of a salesperson). I have an Epson stylus photo R260....and need to replace the black ink cartridge. The number on it says T0781.

  All cartidges for the Epson R260, R380 and R580 ate "78 Series" cartridges. They all start as "T078" followed by the color number. Black is "T078120". These printers can also use a larger capacity cartridge in the "77 Series" (eg: Black High Capacity is "T077120") but only appear to be available direct from the Epson Store online.
