What's great: The Epson Perfection V370 Photo is an excellent scanner, reasonably priced. It's fast and it communicates seamlessly with my Epson printer allowing me to copy and print with a single step. Photos scan beautifully, especially prints made from digital cameras. Color and resolution are true and the scans are sharp. Scanning negatives and transparencies is easy with the film holder included with the scanner. It also comes with a high-speed USB cord, which was a nice surprise, and includes several programs on its installation CD.

What's not so great: Some of the parts are flimsy and fragile. The document mat which must be removed to scan negatives is lightweight and consists of a thin plastic frame holding a white sheet of vinyl. When it is attached to the lid of the scanner it wobbles and although it does not affect the quality of scanning (and might be designed to work that way), it seems prone to damage. The film holder is also lightweight plastic and has some fine pins to hold slides that, if handled roughly, will no doubt break. Epson's scanning software is not what I would call "user friendly" and needs improvement. It opens two windows, won't keep the settings I saved and I have to constantly make sure that the scan is done the way I want it without reverting to "original size" which from negatives yields a small photo. You can scan from any TWAIN program, however, and I will be trying different ones. There is a learning curve for the scanning of negatives, that's for sure.

Overall, it's a nice scanner that does what it promises and I'm satisfied.

The V370 will not correctly scan my Kodak color negatives. The scanned photos are incomplete frames with only part of a picture showing up, and sometimes with another part of a picture attached to another picture showing a awkward split screen. I spent way over a total of 2 hours on the phone on 3 different occasions with their technical support, and was told on the first call that it was a hardware failure. In the next week I received 2 replacements under warranty, and finally just gave up and took the item back to Staples for a full refund.

    Epson V370

    By Don

    from Arlington, VA

Comments about Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner:

My old Epson scanner was great. Bought it 11 years ago and it just stopped working last week. I looked at the different scanners and decided on the V330 as a great value; but the MicroCenter only had a newer version, the V370 so I purchased it. The set up and connection went easily and flawlessly - an unusual event for me. I'm even able to use my old contol panel for the previous scanner. The instructions were very simple although installing the software needs a bit more detail on the installation. The scanner is very fast with no warm up time. The copy was perfect for my purposes. For the money, you can't go wrong with this scanner.

Comments about Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner:

I have used this scanner approx. 1 month, scanned approx 1000 slides and 150 photos. Had a minor problem for about 1 hr when I was getting a green stripe in the center of the scan. This went away and the scanner has been working fine since.

      V370 Scanner

      By Bubba

      from Anderson, SC

Comments about Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner:

I have enjoyed scanning many of my old photos and sending them to my computer. The V370 does a very good job. I have not tried scanning any of my slides yet. The worst thing so far is that there is no manual enclosed with the scanner, only a poster set-up. Instructions are poor, even when going to Epson online and reading the manual there. Epson can do better than that.

      Great scanner

Comments about Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner:

I have a great task scanning and digitizing photos from old prints and negatives. This scanner does it all and the built in software that allows you to make changes in levels and blur/sharpness during the scanning process, really takes the drudgery out of it. I have and would recommend to anyone

      V370 Review

      By Doug

      from Minneapolis MN

Comments about Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner:

I find the scanner incredibly slow and doesn't perform as intended. First push the scanner button, then wait for a dialog box, hit "scan" and wait then hit "finish" and start over again. Probably takes 40 seconds per copy. Why have to hit three buttons, can not the device have been more user friendly with a single button hit??? Wouldn't purchase again. Also had to reprogram the driver setup once in the last 30 days of ownership, that's un-necessary as well.

      • Q:

Can this scanner scan plastic mounted slides to digital file? This is very important because most of the scanner scans only paper mounted slides. Please consider this urgent. Thanks & regards.
