I wanted a large floor mat to protect my new laminate floor...one large enough to cover the floor when the chair moves away from the computer...this is perfect. It lays completely flat and is barely visible. It does slide, but my computer desk prevents that from happening, so that's not a concern for me.

Be careful if you are putting this mat on a hardwood floor. It slides like a dog on an ice rink and you will slide with it if you let your guard down. Other than that it seems just fine, but that's kind of a big concern because it's really unsafe. It retains its shape well and lives up to the claim that it doesn't have an odor (which is why i purchased it in the first place.) However, it's probably sensible to try the one that claims not to slide for safety's sake unless it is going in an area where it can't move.

Cracked within 6 months, we'll see if the Highlands Group replaces it or not..

We bought this mat to go under a large birdcage that is in our family room with hardwood flooring. The cage is on casters and moves smoothly over the mat. We clean the mat by vacuuming the debris and swiffer mopping when necessary. The only (very slight) con is the finish, we would prefer the mat to be less shiny, more of a matte finish but it is certainly as attractive as other mats we have had. We hope that the mat will not discolor over time. We are very happy with our purchase.

I use this on a mahoghany plank floor and it works great. I have a rolling desk chair that I use on top of it. It has a very slight texture to the top of it, which makes it appear a little matte-like in the finish, but that works great, as it makes the plastic appear less noticeable and you can see the wood better. It is easy to pick up for cleaning,but it does not move when I roll my chair. I ordered the 48x53 and that gives me enough room to roll to the filing cabinet or bookcase within arms reach. I would buy this product again.
