The price per cartridge for the XL (extra large amount of ink) is "okay" -- but I am not getting anywhere near the 750 advertised pages. I do a lot of photographs and clip art which admittedly uses more ink than the printed word. I get, perhaps, 150 photos (4 x 6 inches) with a set of cartridges. The printer uses 5 different color cartridges (and the black cartridge costs double the color cartridges) -- thus buying all 5 cartridges costs in the "low 3 digits". Remember to recycle the depleted cartridges [...]this reduces the per cartridge cost. [...] The cartridges produce great images. The cartridge package has been redesigned ... see photo. The new package is on the left.

My first home printer was an HP 670 that lasted for years and the ink lasted indefinitely. It came with a template program that I loved and cannot duplicate.

I am Staples best customer when it comes to ink. Even the XL cartridges run out too quickly. My last set of cartridges ran out even when the display said I should have 50% left.

I spent more for ink in January than I did for gasoline for my car!!!!!!!!!

It's a normal HP printer cartridge but I've learned over the years to stick with the HP products. Generic replacement cartridges work but always seem to degrade the printer.

This product definitely gives a lot more printing usage than the regular 564. I can't comment on printing quality for photos since I have not printed any. I do a newsletter for an organization with a number of clip arts inserts. The colors print very true and bright.
Wish I could purchase all the colors in one package deal. There may be one but I have not seen it.
