    This sharpens pencils so well I almost want to give up my word processing program so I can use it more often. Five stars for the sharpener function but deduct one star for Staples' moronic placement of it in the store. Instead of being with the pencil sharpeners, it is with the drawing supplies and the store clerks don't know that.

        In the 1970's in NY I found this brand of pencil sharpener and was ecstatic. At that time I kept detailed charts which required very fine, but dark lines and this was perfect. I was so very happy to find this product again. (I still have one of the sharpeners left from my purchase almost 40 years ago.)

            I teach in a public school, and my students have tried all kinds of manual sharpeners. These sharpeners are the only ones that consistently work (don't "eat" pencils), stay sharp after many uses, and don't break (blades or casing). Pricey for students, but worth it. Otherwise, you'll end up buying many of the plastic cheaper ones, ultimately spending more than you would on this one set.
