These envelopes are simple to use, just fold up the bottom flap and press down the top flap. There's no licking or moistening the adhesive required, and there's no mountain of wax paper strips to dispose of after sealing 100 envelopes.

These envelopes are actually less expensive than the self-sealing envelopes with the wax paper strip.

The only con is that you cannot really close the envelope without sealing it. So they're not great for putting papers in to store without sealing. (I put my checks and deposit slip in an envelope to bring it to the bank. I reuse the same envelope several times, so I don't want to seal it.) You can, but you cannot fold up the bottom flap, so there is a small opening, which doesn't feel very secure.

These do not print well on our laser printers. They get bunched up and the print is messed up by the flaps. These might work on an inkjet type printer, but I don't have one here to test them with. The seal on these works good. If you use labels or hand-write envelopes, these will work fine.

Comments about Staples® #10, Self-Sealing Envelopes, 500/Box:

The draw back with the envelopes is that the seal doesn't cover the entire flap, leaving the ends open to peel back. Worse yet to be tore by the mail processing machines

Not worth the paper it's printed on...

        Comments about Staples® #10, Self-Sealing Envelopes, 500/Box:

Had I seen and touched the paper I never would have bought this item. One thickness heavier than onion skin with self-sealing flaps open (no strip to keep from sticking to anything else) make this a candidate for hand-addressing only. The front end and self-sealing strips get mangled when put through my Brother laser printer - a first for over four years of dependable envelope addressing by that printer! Wouldn't recommend to an enemy.

The envelopes do not stay closed and I need to tape every single one. I am either going to return them or throw them all out. I am very surprised Staples sells this product that is not worth a dime.

            • Q:

I am running out of a large order of self-sealing envelopes. They are Columbian CO296. They go through my laser printers just fine as the upper flap is down, hence no adhesive is exposed. In the photo of this item on your website, the flap is shown as up. I assume that is not how they come. Please confirm

This envelope is similar to the one you reference and should work. Image is simply to show what the flap looks like.
