I love this sharpener...it is super quiet, fast, reliable....and the best part about it is that I no longer have to remind my students that they are taking too long to sharpen pencils because it automatically stops working once the pencil is sharpened. I would say this is the best in the market at this moment. :)

Decent 2 month classroom sharpener

This is my third shaprener of the school year. They overheat and break easily, but it gets the job done well when it's working.

Despite trying many pencil sharpeners over many many years, I have only been happy with two pencil sharpeners. One is no longer made and sold by another company. The other is this one. Although we use this for personal use, it gets about as much usage as a typical office today. We have used it for over a year. We find it quickly, uniformly, and reliably sharpens our many pencils. Initially, I was concerned that the auto-stop feature would cause problems. However,we have not experienced any issues with the pencil sharpener at all. It just works and works well. I would happily recommend this to anyone.

I am a secretary for a small school and had ordered three of these pencil sharpeners for three of our school teachers. Each one of them seemed to have the same problem with this model. It would start out working great for at least the first few months, then it would quit working. When a pencil was put into the machine, the motor would not even turn on and did not make any noise to let us know it was even trying to work. It quit completely! I asked to exchange 2 of them for an exact replacement but the 2nd ones are not doing too well at sharpening. For the third teacher I got her a different brand, which is working much better than this brand.

Q:
This says "accommodates various pencil widths", but no other detail is given as to the specific sizes that will fit. I am wondering if the Dixon "My First" Ticonderoga pencils will fit in this machine.

  The Staples sharpener has 6 sized holes for pencils, the largest size will accommodate the larger pre-writing pencils and triangular pencils

Q:
Can a replacement receptacle be ordered? The pencil sharpener was knocked off the desk, onto the floor and the plastic prong in the receptacle broke. (The plastic 'prong' that makes the connection so the sharpener will work.)

Q:
I have this stapler in my classroom. The collection cup broke and the safety stem at the back came off. The sharpener still will work but i need a new collection cup. Can I purchase one separately? I only purchased this sharpener in September and would hate to have to buy a new one over a small breakable part like this.

  Why not glue the broken collection cup back together with an epoxy cement you can buy at a hardware store. You don't care how it looks - only that it fits in the body without impeding operation.
