I thought I was saving money but ended up having to buy a new printer because these off-brand cartridges ruined my printer...clogged my head and printed in mono colors (sometimes all pink, sometimes all yellow, sometimes all green...a total mess)...I bought an HP printer after attempting to correct the problem to no avail. It may have been a coincidence, but the printer started acting up after I started using these cheaper Staples cartridges. Canon warns to only use Canon ink and they were right in my case.
Comments about Staples® Color Ink Cartridges Compatible with Canon BCI-3e, 3/Pack:
These ink cartridges compare very favorably to the Canon BCI-3e cartridges we used to buy. They fit well in our printer, the ink seems to be of an equal quality, and they are definitely less expensive! I do just general household printing (both color and black-only) and they seem to be up-to-the-task. I have not had any issues with the ink, even when printing color snapshots on photo paper. They also seemed to work fine in conjunction with the Canon cartridges when one color ran out first and I replaced just that one.
Comments about Staples® Color Ink Cartridges Compatible with Canon BCI-3e, 3/Pack:
Product works fine, less expensive than Canon but still too expensive in general. I used to buy bulk refill kits from Staples or where ever but now no one seems to carry them anymore. That route is much less expensive although eventually you need to buy a set of new cartridges as the internal ink sponges wear out. Separate color cartridges is still the way to go but not sure that Canon's approach of a separate print head and ink cartridge is a good way to go. I've had the print heads die on me and new heads are more expensive than the printer, if you can even find them.
Comments about Staples® Color Ink Cartridges Compatible with Canon BCI-3e, 3/Pack:
The real Canon cartridges were impossible to find one weekend, so I bought the "just as good" Staples version instead. Within one use, my print head was so clogged up that I had to remove it and clean it. Luckily I didn't have to replace the print head altogether. I've had this terrific little Canon printer for years, and not once have I had a problem with it. The very first time I ran into a problem was using the Staples cheaper ink cartridge substitute.
I ran out and found the real Canon cartridges this afternoon after cleaning the print head. Luckily the printer now works fine.
Buyer beware -- I've had a similar problem with my laser printer toner cartridges at work. The Staples store label product is not as good as the name brand for this kind of product.
