Our garage floor sometimes gets wet, so we're using these as storage crates for fertilizer, snow-melt, charcoal brickettes, etc. Also on shelves for grouping lawn-care items. Maybe even for a kitchen recycling box. They're light-weight, stackable and relatively strong (caveat: see below). They offer a lot of value for the cost. Also used them as quick sawhorses, just flip over and put your boards across and bingo, you've got the required support. Would even work as a support for a quick desk (e.g. I put two down, a 16"-wide plywood board across, and spread my tools etc out on my "desk").
Only criticism is would like more bottom/side strength to support occassional, admittedly- incautious use as an "emergency" step stool; I was able to flip over, stand on the diagonal corners, but only very carefully. (We have an ancient industrial-strength plastic "milk crate" that is easily tough enough to do this).

Gd 4 filing but sharp edged & not strong

Much stronger and more durable than cardboard file boxes, but not super sturdy. Don't expect to do all the crazy stuff people do with milk crates. Definitely wouldn't stand or sit on one. Also, unlike milk crates, there aren't any real handles. When you pick them up the edges cut into your fingers. The interlocking and casters are great, but the open design means the contents are not protected from dust and moisture.
Comments about Staples® File Storage Crates, Black:
I work with a lot of new clients, and that creates a lot of individual client files. My desk out of my home office began to look like the four bar commercial for mobile phone services. A pile here, and a pile there. It began to be laughable. So while at Staples I had a mission to find an inexspensive durable file box to consolidate my files into one easy to use box. This is what I found. It was on sale at the time I fond the box, they came in several colors so I was able to choose the color to best fit my taste. I still have piles on the desk, just not my client files. I guess I will have to go back to Staples to buy a new storage cabinet to organize everything else!

The product is great for organizing files. I use it in my office for binders and books that I need quick access to. However great it is in organizing, it is not very appealing to look at. It is black and bulky. I think that they should come in more trendy colors just to add some "flavor" to the office motiff.

I was looking for something that would help in organizing my closets. I got a few of these and they were great for storing gloves, balls and seasonal items. They are stackable and fit nicely on my top shelves in the closet. Looks great and works perfectly!
