                How much tension is required for it to detach? I assume it's more than it takes to pull and swipe a badge through a card reader?

                  A:

                  These are used in our building. They have a 3 foot stretch which is withing reach for anything we need. As long as you don't have anything further than 3 feet out, you shouldn't have an issue with tension. Even if these are fully extended, it can handle some decent tension.
