This sharpener is about to be replaced! I use it in the classroom and sharpen roughly 40-50 pencils each day. There is no auto-off function, so I continually have to check to see if the pencil is sharpened or not. Occassionally a pencil point breaks off in the unit and the whole thing has to be opened up to get it back out. It eats pencils -- they are noticeably shorter after using the sharpener. It is also loud enough that I cannot hear anyone talking while I am using the device.

I went through 2 of these pencil sharpeners in my classroom in a matter a several months. We did not use colored pencils in this sharpener, only #2 lead pencils. After returning the first one, that stopped sharpening, the second item failed within 3 months. I will never buy this brand sharpener again. I definitely do not recommend this sharpener to teachers or for anyone who is only using it for personal occasional use.

This product worked great for the 4 months, then it died. It was only used occassionaly. I would not spend my money on it.

I bought this to use in school. It was great for a short time. Heavy use not recommended.

I use this sharpener to sharpen regular size, no. 2 pencils that are placed in the pews for our congregation to use. It is wonderful - powerful and easy to use! It doesn't get hot and stop like others I have tried.

I have used X-acto knives for years and assumed the pencil sharpener would be of the same high quality. But after very little use, the grinder mechanism moved out of position to where it had to be shaken back into position to use. Shortly there after the sharpener stopped working altogether. The previous model by another company lasted 30 years under much heavier usage, while I didn't get more than 18 months under very light usage with this E-xacto model. On a general note, the front loaded sharpener would slide away from you when you pushed a pencil into it to sharpen. The feet on the E-xacto were not of a design that would adhere to the desk surface like my previous sharpener. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it. Don't waste your money on this one.
