Pen is ok to good. It would be very good to excellent if the cartrdige performed much better. All sais and done, it is the better stainless steeel pen since Papermate professional was discontinued by Gillette ( idiots). The Papermate Stainless steel Professional cartrdige was the smoothest wrting cartridge I ever experienced. The F701 cartrdige quickly begins wrting roughly, skipping, and requires replacement far too frequently. The F-701 design of the pen is very good. Much better than the Cross or Parker stainless by far. In 2 of the ones I have bought, the clicker button has been a weak point. Summary I will keep buying it till I find onethat length that has a better cartridge.

Ok, so I have had my eye on this pen for a while, I finally decided to buy it the other day. Why this pen? Because it's all stainless steel, it looks sharp. My biggest complaint with the pen is the width; it's just way to fat. I'm an engineering student so I do a lot of writing on a daily bases and this pen does not fit the bill, It's like writing with a mammoth metal crayon. My next small complaint is the clicker (tip deployment mechanism), it's not loud enough. One thing I do like about it is the very fine point and viscosity of the ink, the grip is also notable. I actually find the zebra f-301 to be a better pen, at a cheaper price. Don't waste the money unless you have the dexterity of a chimp. For the record I'm some weird guy who is very particular about choosing his writing implements.

    Good feel/construction but...

Comments about Zebra F-701 Retractable Ballpoint Pen, .7mm, Stainless Steel, Black:

I needed something durable and this seemed like a solution. However, it writes as if it's running out of ink when it is brand new. It's a solid pen, but when holding it, I don't feel the confidence of a rubber grip despite it having a scored metal grip. I will use this for quick notes since my tendency to press down harder would fatigue my hand.

    Great Pen

Comments about Zebra F-701 Retractable Ballpoint Pen, .7mm, Stainless Steel, Black:

I am fussy about my writing tools. I prefer solid metal construction, and a clean, sleek look.

I have used the stainless steel Parker Jotter for years. It's an iconic American pen, with solid performance and a satisfying click.

My only complaint about the Jotter was the relatively small diameter where the pen is gripped, and the occasional tendency to have the pen ride up in my fingers, due to the tapered shape. As I get older, my ability to grasp something that narrow appears to be diminishing.

After misplacing my trusty Parker Jotter, I tried the Zebra F-701. It's a great pen at the price point. The cost is roughly a third of the Jotter, and it feels good in the hand. It's been dependable, and a joy to use.

    Highly recommended.

    Good self-defense pen

Comments about Zebra F-701 Retractable Ballpoint Pen, .7mm, Stainless Steel, Black:

This pen makes an excellent, inexpensive self-defense tool -- solid stainless steel barrel can be used in fist to assailants temple or other soft spot for maximum effect. Useful to carry in weapons free "kill zones" often targeted by school shooters, etc. This would be a good gift for college females to carry as well and doubles as an ubiquitous note-taking tool. I have carried the Zebra brand for more than 10 years and only have to replace when I lose them or give them away to friends.

Nice weight, solid pen and zebra delivers reliable performance. Don't know if they come in bolder MM but would try.

    almost perfect pen

Comments about Zebra F-701 Retractable Ballpoint Pen, .7mm, Stainless Steel, Black:

I just purchased this pen last week. It's a great pen bery stylish and premium looking for a great price. It also has good weight and writes very smoothly. If I had any issues with this pen they would be that it's silver cap for the push button release keeps popping off. Also this pain is very delicate you drop it and by chance lands on the head there goes the smooth writing. However in the end after weighing the pros and cons this pen is worth it for the above-mentioned reasons. Thank You.
