Sure, cutting boards are essential in getting your party food prepped. But lots of people (including restaurants) use them to serve it up, too. It looks rustic and effortlessly beautiful. A good cutting board, however, is best used for a single purpose. And even then, some people might feel a little uncomfortable eating off of the same serving plate that their food was prepared on. So we took the design of our artisanal 11x20 Oak Wood Cutting Board and made it available as 6x12 serving plates in sets of four. The idea, of course, is nothing special. That's the charm of it - the complete and utter simplicity of serving up food on a beautifully designed slab of oak wood. L'Atelier Moderne Always cooking for friends and family, Quebec natives Cedrick Ethier and Francis Carignan-Lapointe began crafting artisanal wood cutting boards to prepare and even serve their food on. Motivated by how much the beautiful presentation of these pieces amplified the dining experience, they decided to turn it into a business. As it turns out, there are a lot of restaurants and people who like the idea of making their food look as good as it tastes. So within a few months they teamed up with industry veterans Martin Labadie and Francois Michelena to create L'Atelier Modern Wood Concepts, otherwise known as L'Atelier Moderne. And now, for the first time, L'Atelier is taking the same high-end food ambiance it's created for some of the trendiest restaurants, and making it available for any kitchen or dining room. Working with wood species of the highest quality, L'Atelier Moderne blends a vintage rugged craftsmanship with modern sensibilities to produce the kind of utility and serving piece that will give people something, other than the food, to talk about.
