There is something about a square flap on an envelope that denotes importance. It is no wonder then that many significant invitations and announcements are packaged in just such a wrapper. But don't make the mistake of thinking these classic mailers are just for personal use. Businesses can make a similar statement by choosing a square-flapped envelope, with or without a clear window. Peruse the dozens of options available from leading office supply brands like JAM Paper, LUX, and Staples.

Narrow Your Choices
Selecting a business envelope can be more daunting than you think. While it is nice to have choices, narrowing them down can be difficult. Square-flapped envelopes are available in dimensions ranging from 3 1/2" x 6" (the smallest commercial size available) to jumbo 13" x 19" mailers and everything in between, including the standard #10 envelope. As for color? Depending on your needs, 17 different color choices beckon, some with address windows, some without.

Not Quite Done Yet
You've determined your specific needs when it comes to color and size in a square-flapped envelope, but you're not quite done yet. Depending on what you are mailing, you may or may not need clear address windows. If you do need a window, how many and where should they be? Single left, single right, and double left windows are the most popular choices but not the only ones. A full-faced over-sized clear center window is also an option for special mailing projects.

Almost There
It should be apparent by now that the "one size fits all" days of business envelopes are long gone. As are the days when licking or using a sponge to seal them was the only choice. Yes, the old-school sealants are still available, but many other options are, too. Choose redi-seal strips that require no moisture or convenient peel-and-stick closures. Now that you have chosen your square envelope, purchase in packs of as few as 20 or as many as 1,000.
