Size
The width, height and depth of Staples cardboard boxes ranges anywhere from 3 to over 29 inches. It’s wise to purchase a box a little bigger than you need to ensure all items will fit. It’s also important to keep in mind that if the item is delicate, there needs to be at least a couple inches of space to make room for packing peanuts to ensure the item is not harmed during transit.
Corrugate Rating
Corrugated boxes are made from corrugated cardboard or paper and are stronger than your standard cardboard box. The corrugate rating refers to how much force the box can withstand on its edges without crushing. This is measured in force applied in pounds per linear inch. The most common corrugate rate is 32 ECT, which can withstand a maximum load of 65 pounds of force per package. If you need a heavier-duty packing box, 48 ECT can withstand over 100 pounds of force per package.
