Choose Synology® routers for their fast wireless speeds and convenient management tools. While it offers few models, Synology makes some of the fastest routers for home and small office users. The current generation of the brand’s networking products uses the 802.11ac Wi-Fi® standard to deliver gigabit wireless speeds. Find these high-performance routers among the wide selection of Synology computer networking and storage products on Staples®.

Improve Your Broadband Experience With Synology Routers
This brand offers two lines of wireless hubs. The RT models are regular routers, while the MT ones are mesh routers. Typically, RT models have dual-core processors, with a clock speed of 1.7 GHz, paired with 533MB of DDR3 RAM. They’re dual-band 802.11ac routers, capable of transmitting and receiving data simultaneously on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. These networking devices deliver a top speed of 1.73Gbps on the 5 GHz band and 800Mbps over the 2.4 GHz.

Broadcasting and receiving wireless signals with two frequency bands make the device less prone to interference from other wireless devices at home. A dual-band configuration also minimizes congestion as more devices join the network. Up to 100 devices can connect to a Synology RT router. With four high-gain omnidirectional antennas, they cover small and mid-sized homes and offices with strong wireless signals. They have four Gigabit ethernet LAN ports for establishing fast wired connections to devices like TVs and desktop computers.

Enjoy Whole Home Wi-Fi With Synology Mesh Router
The Synology 802.11ac mesh router comes with a quad-core processor and 256MB DDR3 RAM. It’s a small unit with two internal antennas. This is a tri-band router that broadcasts and receives wireless signals using one 2.4 GHz band and two 5 GHz bands. The extra band provides an additional lane to further minimize network congestion and wireless interference.

Synology routers that support mesh networking are best for covering large spaces with strong wireless signals. Each device can blanket an area measuring 2,000 square feet. Use one for an apartment or small home. Provide better coverage for bigger homes by adding one or more units to create a wider mesh network. Multiple mesh routers are also ideal for eliminating wireless dead zones in multistory homes.

Can You Use Synology RT Routers for Mesh Networking?
Yes. For instance, the RT2600ac can pair with an MT2200ac to form a mesh network that provides full coverage for large homes and offices. Note that the RT unit must serve as the primary access point and connect directly to a modem. MT units can then serve as nodes or satellites in the created mesh network.

Do Synology Routers Support MU-MIMO?
Yes. The current lineup supports 802.11ac Wave 2. This standard introduces MU-MIMO or multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output technology. Unlike previous routers, those that support this standard can communicate with multiple devices at the same time. This eliminates waiting times and allows all devices on a Wi-Fi network to enjoy high-speed access simultaneously. MU-MIMO is an important feature that helps Synology routers handle bandwidth-intensive tasks like streaming and online gaming.

How Does a Synology Router Protect User Data?
The company’s routers support a host of Wi-Fi encryption standards including personal and enterprise versions of WEP, WPA, and WPA2 as well as newer ones like WPA3 and Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE). They also have built-in security databases that analyze data traffic and block malware and malicious websites.
