When you’re performing a hard, manual job, it’s best to have all of the most durable equipment at your disposal. Along with hand tools, you should also consider getting Flex Seal tape from the leading brand of adhesive materials. Flex tape can be used anywhere to help repair rips, tears or holes. It is a facilities and maintenance essential for all workplaces, schools and homes. Learn more about this powerful product below.

What Is Flex Seal Tape?

Flex Seal tape is a strong, waterproof adhesive that can patch, bond, seal and repair any number of items. It’s great for fixing up items around the workplace, house or yard and can be used on a variety of surfaces like cars, boats and RVs.

No matter the condition, flex tape will hold thanks to its rubberized backing. It seals out water, air and moisture, even when it’s applied over a wet surface. You don’t have to worry about it slipping because its bond increases with time and pressure. Flex Seal tape is perfect for patching large holes, cracks and gaps.

How Do I Use Flex Tape?

To use Flex Seal as effectively as possible, be sure to follow the tips below:

  1. 1. Measure and cut the tape. It’s recommended to use a box cutter or utility knife, because the adhesive could affect your scissors’ ability to cut if it is applied to the blade.
  2. 2. Clean the surface you’re working with of any dirt or oil. Flex tape may not work with greasy or water-repellent surfaces.
  3. 3. Remove the transparent backing.
  4. 4. Press firmly to apply, being sure to smooth it down to eliminate any potential air pockets.
  5. 5. For best results, allow it to bond for about 24 hours so that it can strengthen.

If you have a porous surface like concrete, a hair dryer can be used over the flex tape to increase the bond. When possible, using Flex Seal tape from both sides of an item will maximize its strength. For example, if you’re fixing an above-ground pool leak, applying it on both the inside and the outside will provide the best results.

What Is Flex Seal Tape Best Used For?

Flex Seal tape is perfect for any location where normal duct tape won’t hold, such as around leaking pipes or even on roofs. It should not be used with pressurized pipes or engine machinery. It can be applied hot or cold, wet or dry and even underwater. Flex Seal tape can withstand temperatures from -70 degrees Fahrenheit to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and extreme weather conditions. It’s also UV-resistant, so it won’t wear out in the sun.

How Do I Remove It?

To remove it, you’ll need an adhesive remover and a pair of pliers. It’s recommended to buy a spray variety so that you can more easily cover the entire surface.

Use the pliers, pull up an edge. This may take some maneuvering, but once a corner has been loosened enough, spray the adhesive remover on the flex tape. Gently pull on the tape as the remover works, continuing to spray whenever new adhesive needs to be loosened.

To make the job easier, Flex Seal provides a brand-specific product called Flex Seal Tape Adhesive Remover.
