Maybe mine is faulty but…
The main reason for purchasing it was to be able to “dock” my MacBook and have access to another monitor and my other office equipment easily. The monitor works just fine when plugged directly into the laptop but will not work when used with this device.

Disappointing product and lackluster tech support
These seem to work well out-of-the-box on Windows laptops but require two drivers on intel-equipped MacBook Pros for both the dual external displays and the Ethernet. Your mileage may vary but here’s my experience: I was unable to get it to work on my 2017 i5 MBP 13 so I returned it.
