Quality is an issue
Let me start by saying that I still have my original LL Bean school backpack from thirty years ago, so I am more than a little dismayed that none of the three backpacks we purchased less than two years ago will be making the return trip to school this fall.

Perfect for my maturing child
My now middle school-aged daughter has outgrown her elementary bag with unicorns all over it, so we got this book bag for her birthday. It's a beautiful eggplant color, monogramming was perfectly done, and my daughter loves that the clips and edging details on the bag are lavender instead of white or black. She carries her bag everywhere and couldn't be happier.

14 years of heavy use
My parents bought me one of these in 2011 for college. I used it daily for four years, then frequent use including several international trips. I was not kind to this bag and even washed many times in the washing machine! It has only recently developed a small tear. And did I mention this thing is HUGE? Durable - but "too" big for child
This bag has held up well during daily use from 5th-8th grade. BUT, I'm now going to buy my child the smaller-sized medium (24L) bag for high school. Why? This backpack is so large, my child carries WAY too much to and from school, never learning how to manage what actually *needs* to be carried, never going through and filtering out old papers. The best backpack
These backpacks last for more than 5-6 years with heavy books being brought to school every day. The only reason I bought a new one was because my son needed the larger size?

Cool bag
I got this bag a few years ago and it is holding up really well. The material is long lasting and holds my belongings well. There are plenty of pockets to store things. My problem however is with the water bottle holder. It is TERRIBLE . Too many times has the bottle fallen out of the bag and left huge dents. Good backpack but not durable
Fits all the stuff my middle schooler is expected to carry around with him. However 16 months later one of the shoulder strap is halfway ripped out at the top of the bag. It’s out of the 1 year warranty so there’s nothing LLBean can do. Disappointing. A backpack should last longer than that!!

The greatest backpack.
This is the best backpack ever! My grandson had the same one for at least ten years, and when it was worn decided to get the same one. There is no other backpack in the world that holds up to rough usage as well and which takes all the gear and "stuff" he needs. It's just absolutely a great item.

Great, except...
My kids loved this backpack in high school and now in college. It can fit a ridiculous amount of stuff (even works as a bag for a weekend away). Their only complaint is the lack of straps on the side that could tighten up the load... This is a common feature on hiking packs, and on the Comfort Carry Portable Locker Pack, so why not on this one? Depending on how you have...

Bag great, zipper not so much
Zipper is stuck. Company won’t stand behind their iriducts anymore. Sad. Thought you could rely on llbean fir the long term.

Not as sturdy as they used to be
My kids have had several of these over the years, and this one doesn’t feel as sturdy. I guess we’ll see how it holds up. Probably my last purchase from LL bean since they donated so much to the Republican Party.
