No key needed just great for security especially when traveling.

Staples won't refund your purchase if defective
I bought this lock and right after setting the code it got stuck closed. I contacted Samsonite to get instructions to reset it following these instructions did not work. Samsonite rep asked me to return the lock to the store where I bought it so I did. Staples refused to refund or replace the lock. DO NOT BUY!
