Solution for adding a few lines
Needed to add a phone line to an existing outlet, opted for the 3 jack splitter so if another phone is needed all set. Should have done it sooner.

Three is what you need
This works when you have a computer line and a telephone to be hooked up with an answering machine line, all to be active at the same time. Exactly what I was looking for.

Didn't fit.
It may be my own fault for not checking more carefully but this device did not fit in our phone handset. I was unaware there are different sizes of phone jacks. Unfortunately, now I know.
