What type of networking solution do you need?

Wireless network

Ideal for: Networking anywhere from 2 to 20 computers in your home or SOHO (small office or home office). Especially ideal for those who want a network, but don't want the inconveniences that come with using wires, such as poking holes in walls or running cables along the floor.

Capabilities: There are three types of wireless available today: Wireless–G, Wireless–G Enhanced and Wireless–N, the latest in wireless technology.

Wireless–G

  • Speed: Up to 54Mbps
  • Range: 1–2 rooms (up to 100–150 feet)
  • Price: Least expensive
  • Great for: Apartments or small offices
  • Capabilities: Sharing high–speed Internet connections and transmitting audio files.

Enhanced Wireless–G
  • Speed: Up to 108Mbps (2x faster than Wireless–G)
  • Range: 3–4 rooms (up to 300 feet)
  • Price: More expensive
  • Great for: Apartments, small–medium offices and homes
  • Capabilities: Sharing high–speed Internet connections, transmitting audio files and Internet phone calls (VoIP).

Wireless–N
  • Speed: Up to 300Mbps (12x faster than Wireless–G)
  • Range: Whole house (up to 400 feet)
  • Price: Most expensive
  • Great for: All apartments, offices and homes
  • Capabilities: Sharing high–speed Internet connections, transmitting audio files, Internet phone calls (VoIP), networked entertainments (hi–def video streaming and multichannel surround sound audio), simultaneously run multiple bandwith–instense applications (VoIP, video and audio) and bandwith–intensive network & media applications.

Wired network (Ethernet)

Ideal for: Networking your home, SOHO (small office or home office), or mid– to large–sized office. Also ideal for sharing large graphic files or playing high–end games over a network. Ethernet networking requires more cable than the other networking solutions, but is usually less expensive, offers better expansion opportunities and faster speeds (up to 1000 Mbps).
