Travel can be trying and tiring, but having the right accessories can help enormously — whether they make your luggage more transportable, keep your documents organized, or save you time. The right items can even allow you to enjoy yourself while on the road or in the air.

Roll through your travels

Roll through your travels Don't even think about carrying your gear when a sturdy luggage cart can do all of the work. Check the weight of your luggage before selecting a cart — common capacities are 125, 175, and 250 pounds. Look for a cart that completely collapses for portability or storage once you reach your destination. Many also have telescoping arms with cushioned grips for added comfort.

Keep tags on your luggage*

Lost luggage is a peril of business travel. Clearly identifying your belongings is a must. Slip your business card into a sturdy vinyl or plastic tag holder, or make tags for yourself and your co–workers with a tag laminating kit. Want professionally printed tags? Choose from imprinted plastic labels in a variety of colors, or engraved plastic or solid brass tags with leather straps. Either way, you'll have the peace of mind knowing that your luggage is clearly marked with your contact information.

It's in the bag If you bring your laptop on the road, you need to transport it in a travel bag. Choose one with foam padding and a water–resistant fabric finish to keep your computer safe and dry. Many travel cases also have extra compartments and zippered pockets that are perfect for cellular phones, business cards, calculators, and writing instruments. Certain styles also have a built–in security alarm for added protection.

All together now

When you're on the go, keeping track of all your documents can be a job in itself. You've got money, traveler's checks, a passport, business cards, directions, receipts, and more. Wouldn't it be nice if you could keep everything together in an easy–to–carry place? You can with a passport organizer wallet, a compact case with multiple compartments for all your important items and a zippered closure to keep everything secure.

Stop spills An insulated mug that's spill–proof and portable can be a real time–saver when you're on the road or on your way to work. Look for one that's dishwasher safe and will fit into your vehicle's cup holder — an added bonus for thirsty road warriors.

Map your way

Sometimes getting there is half the fun — or half the struggle if you're lost. Keep traveling from be a frustrating experience with a road atlas. Choose a map that's easy–to–read, with detailed city street maps to help you navigate in unfamiliar places. Time zone tables and mileage charts are handy extras as well. If you have access to a laptop when you're traveling, try a mapping CD or Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver.

Track your mileage

If you need to record your mileage for reimbursement or tax purposes, a mileage log will simplify your travels. These logs will also let you keep track of tolls, gas, and parking costs. Choose a log with monthly and yearly summaries, which are useful when filling out reimbursement reports or filing your taxes.

Take care of yourself

Take care of yourself After a long day of traveling, pamper and relax your tired feet with a pro foot spa or ease stiffness in aching muscles with a heated massager. Many of these personal care items are portable and storable, which may make them travel favorites!
