What are "cookies," and how do they affect me?

The quick and easy answer is that cookies are small files stored on your computer or mobile device that identify you to our site and help us to give you a more personalized shopping experience (it’s how we remember what’s in your shopping cart, for example). 1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options

2. On the Privacy tab, move the slider to Low or Accept All Cookies

3. Click OK

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options

2. On the Security tab, click the Custom Level button

3. Scroll down to the Cookies section

4. Set "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" to "Enable"

5. Set "Allow per-session cookies" to "Enable"

6. Click OK

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x, Macintosh

1. On the Explorer menu, select Preferences

2. Under the Receiving Files option, select Cookies

3. Under "When receiving cookies:" select Never Ask

4. Click OK

Safari

1. On the Safari menu, click Preferences

2. Click the Security icon

3. In the Accept Cookies selection box, choose Always

4. Close the security window

Mozilla

1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences

2. In the Privacy & Security category, choose Cookies

3. Click the radio button next to "Enable all cookies"

4. Click OK

Firefox

1. On the Tools menu, click Options

2. Select the Privacy category

3. Expand the Cookies options on the right

How do I delete cookies from browsers?

If you remove cookies, you'll be signed out of websites and your saved preferences could be deleted. You might need to sign in again.

 Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  1. 1. In Internet Explorer, select the Tools  button, point to Safety, and then select Delete browsing history.

  2. 2. Select the Cookies and website data check box, and then select Delete.

IE-8

  1. 1. In Internet Explorer, select the Safety button, and then select Delete Browsing History.

  1. 2. Select the check box next to Cookies.

  2. 3. Select the Preserve Favorites website data check box if you don't want to delete the cookies associated with websites in your Favorites list.

  3. 4. Select Delete.

Google Chrome:

If you remove cookies, you'll be signed out of websites and your saved preferences could be deleted.

  1. 1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  2. 2. At the top right, click More Settings.

  3. 3. At the bottom, click Advanced.

  4. 4. Under "Privacy and security," click Content settings.

  5. 5. Click Cookies.

  6. 6. Under "All cookies and site data," click Remove all.

  7. 7. Confirm by clicking Clear all.

Firefox:

 To delete all cookies stored on your computer, do the following:

  1. 1. Click the menu button  , then Library, followed by History.

  2. 2. Click Clear Recent History....

  3. 3. Set Time range to clear to Everything.

  4. 4. Click on the arrow next to Details to expand the list of history items.

  5. 5. Select Cookies and make sure that other items you want to keep are not selected.

  6. 6. Click Clear Now to clear the cookies and close the Clear Recent History window.

Safari:

 Choose Safari > Preferences, click Privacy, then do any of the following:

  • Change which cookies and website data are accepted: Select a “Cookies and website data” option:

  1. 1. Always block: Safari doesn’t let any websites, third parties, or advertisers store cookies and other data on your Mac. This may prevent some websites from working properly.

  2. 2. Allow from current website only: Safari accepts cookies and website data only from the website you’re currently visiting. Websites often have embedded content from other sources. Safari does not allow these third parties to store or access cookies or other data.

  3. 3. Allow from websites I visit: Safari accepts cookies and website data only from websites you visit. Safari uses your existing cookies to determine whether you have visited a website before. Selecting this option helps prevent websites that have embedded content in other websites you browse from storing cookies and data on your Mac.

  4. 4. Always allow: Safari lets all websites, third parties, and advertisers store cookies and other data on your Mac.

  • Remove stored cookies and data: Click Manage Website Data, select one or more websites, then click Remove or Remove All.
