The Staples Tech Visual RAM Memory Adventure
Almost all PCs and laptops sold today have the ability to increase their RAM, or memory, and therefore increase performance. RAM helps your PC perform tasks better, and put simply, having more of it makes everything run more quickly.
- This is your laptop. You noticed that it was running slow the other day, and after exhausting all your software-related options, decided to take it to EasyTech for a RAM upgrade. Here is exactly how we're going to fix your gear.
- Underneath this innocent-looking cover is your old RAM. After years of service it's simply too small to handle today's large applications. To access the RAM we've started to remove its protective cover.
- Our installation expert, Ryan S., uses his finger to lift the cover protecting your old RAM. You can't see from the picture, but he's wearing an important grounding wire bracelet that prevents your laptop from getting zapped by static electricity.
- With the tabs popped out, the RAM will lift easily from its tray.
- With the tabs free and clear, the RAM is removed by Ryan's steady hand. The Staples tech services division can replace this old RAM stick with a 6GB or 8GB version, depending on your budget or performance needs.
- The new RAM packs 1.5 to 2-times the memory into the same size space.
- You can really see how the RAM connectors line up with your laptop in this close-up image. The center space ensures everything is in the correct place.
- The final step involves replacing the protective cover to seal in your new investment. Please note: our tech experts service all types of PCs and laptops.
