This Marine Radio protects you from what lies ahead, as well as getting you out of dicey waters, by informing you the moment a storm starts brewing and transmitting your location should you need help. With triple watch features, DSC capabilities, a range of international marine channels and S.A.M.E weather alert, the UM385 brings everything you’ll need on the water into one compact design.

- S.A.M.E. weather alert (Specific Area Message Encoding)—during a NOAA weather or emergency alert, a code for the user's specific location will alert them to severe conditions in immediate area
- Backlit keypad and display
- Channel names feature allows user to assign names to all marine channels for quicker reference
- DSC (Digital Selective Calling) includes automated distress button, position send, and request
- DSC allows you to call other stations using their unique identification code (the Maritime Mobile Service Identity or MMSI number), just like you would call a phone number; radio uses channel 70 to transmit your MMSI number to the other station along with the voice channel you requested and if the other station accepts your call, both radios automatically switch to the requested voice channel so you can talk to the other station
