I teach Kindergarten, and these are the only pencils I will ever buy to use in my classroom again! Here's why:
- These pencils last forever, their durable size make it difficult for my students to break the lead tips (which also means that I hardly EVER have to sharpen them). Besides "lost" pencils, most of my students are still using the same pencil that I gave them on the first day of school, and its January! - Okay, my favorite part is that the tri-write triangular shape gives me a flat surface large enough to take a Sharpie and write each student's name on the end of the pencil. This means no arguments over using each other's things, and if there is a pencil on the floor we know who it belongs to.
I LOVE these pencils.

Not What I Thought
I thought these were fat or thick pencils for young children.

I bought these for my grand daughters 2nd grade class. They have so many of the pencils from the dollar store that do not sharpen evenly and are hard to use. After reading the previous reviews I decided on these. Before I could take them to school my son, a former teacher, spotted them and wanted a box for his wife who is a teacher. He says these are the best pencils made and the design allows for a very comfortable grip. They were a hit with everyone. I'll be ordering more.

I have always like the Tri-Write. It is the most comfortable pencil I have ever used and always my first choice.
I have even purchased the Tri-Write 1st Pencil for my grandson. He is learning to hold the pencil correctly while he learns to write his letters and numbers. A perfect learning tool.
If there was one thing I could change about the original Tri-Write, I would manufacture a third Tri-Write - an in between size. My arthritis does not allow me to write with a skinny (normal size) pencil anymore. I have actually resorted to trying to use the 1st Pencils for working my Sudoku puzzles (but they are a bit awkward).

Use to use mechanical pencils - til I found this one. At my job - I bring my own pens & pencils with me. I even have at least 1 dozen Tri-Writers on hand in case someone needs to borrow a pencil. I sharpen it for them and then let them keep it. Boy oh Boy are they comfortable. I never leave home withot them.
