I was actually looking for 1/4 inch double sided tape for making double mats for my paintings. I had never used 1/2 inch tape for this purpose. But I am finding it to be even more useful for larger mats and so I am quite happy with it.

I make greeting cards for military troops deployed & in military hospitals, and I make my own envelopes for the quarter-fold cards. For this review, I'm going to compare this product to a similar product, also Scotch Double-Stick tape, only the other product has 1" core & this has a 3" core. This stuff needs a special holder to be able to use it. I used my package-tape "gun", which holds a 3" package-sealing tape. Compared to the other double-stick tape, this is more difficult to use, even with the tape "gun". The other stuff goes right into my desk-tape holder. This stuff is also wider, so might not suit purposes where "clearance" is "tight". The tape itself is identical - only the size is different. Both are excellent products, for certain applications only. Beware this product's large core. If a project requires a lot of product on a single roll, this might work better than the little rolls.
