I use the calculator for day to day accounting. Often times I can do the math in my head, but sometimes it's just faster to use the calculator if there are a list of expenses that needed to be added. I like that it's simple enough and yet has the capability to do more. The extra keys that you never really seem to use don't overwhelm you like a scientific calculator. It's perfect for what I need.

I like the fact that it is solar powered. What is very annoying is that the little rubber feet are uneven, so it is never completely flat on the surface, and it wobbles a little when you use it.

Design wise I think it's ugly that the Staples name is prominent...it's the first thing you see. If there was something else in the price range without the brand in red letters, I would have bought it.

    I was looking for a small calculator to have at my fingertips when I decided to visit Staples, my supply store. Staples had a great selection to choose from. I found this SPL-240 which is the perfect size for my desk and has the sufficient buttons to perform all the calculations that I need. Now I no longer have to use my cell phone or a excell spreadsheet to add up sums or calculations. The price was perfect. The digital display is clear enough. In summary, this item was exactly what I needed and what I was looking for.

        The buttons do not work for quick use. If I am trying to add numbers quickly the buttons I push will not register. I have to work slowly to be sure of accuary. Extremely frustering. Disapointed with this calculator. Will spend more money on the next one I guess.

              I do not think that this calculator's contrast is adjustable; however, the SPL-250 product features state that it has an adjustable display,but product specifications state "adjustable tilt display."

              Test the calculation by entering in an amount (i.e., 200) and then pressing TAX+.
