We used to love the stapler and had no problems at all until the latest box of staples. This box of staples does nothing but jam and we had to remove the stapler from the copy room to avoid increases in blood pressure. Super annoying.

It may seem strange to write a RAVING review about a box of staples. But this stapler and staples are TRULY EXTRAORDINARY. I own innumerable numbers of staplers of every sort ranging from a tiny 1" stapler to magnetic staplers to small staplers to regular staples and all the way up to the heaviest duty staples and I have staples to match them all (including all the possible sizes for the heavy duty staplers.) What's great about this stapler - it staples anyway from TWO to SIXTY pages!!!! The heavy duty staplers cannot staple small stacks and most standard staplers only go up to 20 to 30 pages. Basically, I find that I have to keep at least two staplers around (now the big stapling jobs of say 100 sheets will still require the heavy duty stapler.) But this staple is actually capable of functioning as a regular standard staple and staple only two or a few or ten pages together. Yet, it increases the range of the standard staplers by being able to staple up to 60 pages. It's also much easier to use than either type of stapler (the older model was approved by the Arthritis Foundation). I find that most of my staple jobs are over 20 -30 pages and it's a real pain to keep switching the size of the stapler in the heavy duty stapler to fit the particular stapling job. It's great having this one stapler that is easy to use, and can handle a much larger range of everyday stapling needs so you don't have to worry if your pile of papers is too many for the stapler. And you don't have to try to find a standard stapler when all you need to do is staple 2 pages together.

In fact there's a newer model out and this stapler is so good, even though I have no need to do so, I'm going to buy the newer one just to have two of them. I actually take this stapler with me places (I'm a lawyer) because i prefer it to what else is around.

Although the box deceptively states that these staples fit the 77701 stapler, which I own, it does not work. My experience is that it will staple only one document after loading. We have returned this item 3 times and very frustrated we can't get the proper SWI35550 staples in the blue box that we used to receive. The box erroneously states that the optima staples fit 77701. Swingline, the manufacturer has confirmed with us they still manufacture the SWI35550 that fits in my stapler and we will now need to purchase our staples from a competitor.

I had to look to see if these were really official Swingline Staples, because they perform so poorly compared to the pack that I had bought years ago. It takes several tries to get a staple in place after several jams/crumpled staples in documents that never used to be a problem.
