What Is Tempered Glass?
It is glass that has been cut to the desired size, then sanded on any sharp edges and rinsed. The glass then undergoes a heat treatment process in a tempering oven. The glass reaches a temperature of more than 1100 degrees Fahrenheit. It then begins a treatment process called quenching, in which it is cooled quickly. This process makes the glass approximately four times as strong as standard, annealed glass.
