A notebook is not a laptop, and it can't replace a desktop computer, but it is a lighter and more portable option. Without the optical drive and extra space for cooling, they are slimmer than laptops and weigh under 4 pounds depending on the internal components. Notebooks come with one or more USB ports to run external devices such as CD, DVD, and BR reading and writing drives. Many brands have an Intel® or AMD processor. For graphic design, multitasking high-demand programs, and even gaming, consider the Intel Core™ i7 or the AMD FX or AMD A10. If you don't need that much power, save money with a mid-grade processor, such as an Intel Core i5 or an AMD A8 or A6. Choose Between a Lenovo Notebook Hard Disc Drive and a Solid State Drive
Notebooks come with hard disc drives, solid state drives, or both. A hard disc is a metal platter that stores and retrieves data while it spins. Solid state drives don't spin. Instead, they store all data on a series of interconnected memory chips. Although the solid state drive sounds like a flash drive, interconnecting the chips allows the drive to run faster and makes it more reliable. Hard drive capacities vary between as little as 16GB to in excess of 1TB. Smaller capacities are limited to devices running on the Chrome OS™.

Do Lenovo Notebooks Only Run on Microsoft® Windows® Operating Systems?
Lenovo notebooks run on Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, 10 Home, and some have Google's Chrome™ operating system. Notebooks with a Chrome OS have fewer applications than devices running Windows-based systems, but they are an excellent choice for using web applications, such as email, web browsers, and social networking, and have a long battery life.
