TRU RED™ shredder accessories help maintain the peak operating performance of the three major security types of paper shredders for homes or businesses. Accessories are also available for keeping the paper shreds or confetti contained in the shredder bin as well as for disposing them when the bin is full. The accessories are compatible with all TRU RED shredders available from Staples® as well as with most shredders that Staples offers from other manufacturers.
TRU RED Shredder Accessories Include Maintenance Oil
The three major types of shredders include low- to high-security strip cutters in sheet lengths, cross cutters in rectangle pieces, and microcut in minced sections. Each has a cutting head that consists of the specific blade configuration, and each blade configuration gathers residue from the shredded material, whether paper in different weights or more robust material such as CDs and credit cards.
TRU RED provides a convenient plastic squeeze bottle of cutterhead oil that sluices away the residue left behind. Each bottle provides 14 ounces of biodegradable oil in a specific formulation doesn’t jam the blades. Insert the extension nozzle and squeeze oil in a fine stream along the cutter assembly. Then, run the machine in reverse for 10 seconds to distribute the oil along the blades, and shred some paper to collect any loose oil.
TRU RED Accessory Lubricant Sheets for Maintenance
As well as using shredder oil, run oil-impregnated sheets through the shredder to keep the blades at peak performance. TRU RED lubricant sheets are 6 inches wide by 8.5 inches long, containing sugarcane pulp and vegetable oil on recycled paper that runs through the machine in a standard shredding pass to keep the blades lubricated. They come in 24 sheets per pack, plenty for home and office maintenance for months and, like the squeeze-bottle oil, they’re compatible with any shredder, not just those from TRU RED.
How Often Should You Oil?
Keep any strip, cross cut, or microcut shredder oiled regularly. Experts suggest lubricating the cutting assembly each time you empty the shredder paper bin. Some more complicated cutters, whether with cross-cut or micro-cut blades, may require oiling every half hour of use. The TRU RED squeeze-bottle oiler and lubricant sheets provide enough material for maintaining peak shredder performance at a sensible, budget-friendly quantity.
How Do Shredders Collect the Shredded Paper Debris?
All shredders have disposal bins that insert into the machine below the cutter assembly to collect paper and plastic strips, rectangles, or grinds when slicing, dicing, or mincing. TRU RED provides clear plastic disposal bags that slide into the bin to provide a convenient way of disposing of each reservoir of shredded paper. The TRU RED shredder bags hold up to 15.8 gallons of material, and with a 0.5 mil thickness, are strong enough to collect paper and hard-material shreds of CDs and credit cards. They come in cost-saving boxes of 50 and fit most personal shredder bins.
Why Use TRU RED Disposal Bags?
Shredder bins are typically hard plastic containers that create static electricity, making small paper particles cling to the sides of the bin. The disposal bags keep all debris in one container. Because the bags fit a wide variety of shredders precisely, they eliminate paper shards from collecting in any gaps between the bins’ interior sides and exterior of the bags.
