Whether printing direct mail flyers, financial records or editing a report, it’s important to print crisp, clear text and images. Staples has a variety of printer paper to fit your unique business or home printing needs.
What Is Laser Printer Paper?
Laser printer paper is a type of printer paper that is exclusively used with laser printers. This type of paper is unique due to its heat-resistant properties that allow it to withstand the high heat emitted from laser printers. The high temperature enables the laser printer to fuse toner onto the laser printer paper, producing high quality images and bold text.
What Sizes Does Laser Printer Paper Come In?
Like other types of printer paper, laser printer paper is packaged in reams. A ream is the standard for paper packaging and contains 500 sheets. Staples also sells cartons of paper for larger businesses with bulk paper needs. Each carton contains multiple reams.
Another important indicator when purchasing laser paper is its ream weight, which determines the thickness of individual sheets. The ream weight of laser paper typically is between 20 and 60 pounds, although Staples carries selections up to 110 pounds.
When selecting laser printer paper, keep in mind that thicker or heavier laser paper might require calibration of your printer to ensure the toner fuses properly onto the paper.
What Is the Difference Between Laser Paper and Inkjet Paper?
Laser paper and inkjet paper are two common varieties of printer paper used with their respective compatible printers: laser printers and inkjet printers. Learn more about the differences between these two varieties of printer paper below.
Laser Paper
Laser printer paper features a heat resistant coating designed for use with laser printers only, and could melt if used with inkjet printers. Laser printers are able to print more quickly than inkjet printers, enabling them to handle high volume printing jobs with ease and produce sharp and clear text on laser printer paper.
Inkjet Paper
Inkjet paper also has a specialized coating, only instead of toner, ink is fused onto each page of inkjet paper. Just like how laser paper is specially designed to be used with laser printers, inkjet paper should only be used with inkjet printers.
Inkjet printer paper boasts high quality images, so if you’re looking to print a lot of photos and graphics, inkjet printers are a great choice. Using general printer paper with your inkjet printer will not produce the same high quality printing job.
What Is the Range of Brightness for Laser Paper?
Printer paper brightness measures the clarity of text and images on the page. A paper’s brightness refers to how clearly text and images appear on paper. The standard brightness scale ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 being the brightest.
Laser paper that falls within the range of 80s to low 90s is most suitable for text. Higher brightness levels 90s and above are ideal for producing bold images.
