The first cause of the print quality issues could be a leaking cartridge. The ink might have transferred to the print rollers on the printer. There may be extra ink on the printhead as well. Inspect the cartridge, once you have removed it from the printer. Hi there Greg, I recognize your strong feelings about the page yields and they are valid. Several factors affect cartridge performance, but many clients see great improvement with a few changes. The first cost-saving measure is to print in black ink only. Secondly, turn off the printer, unless actively printing. I also recommend using XL cartridges or joining the instant ink program with HP. You will notice the strongest improvement in page yields by evaluating print items. For example, a photograph or wedding invite would use more ink than a few paragraphs.
