It's Ink
Forged in the fires of Mount Doom from unicorn tears and legitmate Republican sympathy (the rarest of ingredients). It costs more than gold. But it works... Pretty sure this is what Rage Against the Machine was singing about. "Printing In The Name Of".

Faulty Cartridges
When the cartridges were put into the printer, it could not be read. Then it started to leak out.

Never buy toner from staples again.
For years I have recycled my used toner cartridges at Staples. Staples has put unreasonable constraints on recycling. I won’t go there the store again to buy toner and recycle old cartridges. GOODBY STAPLES.

TOO EXPENSIVE and who needs more black ink?
Buy Generic on line. Wish they just sold the colors in a three pack. I have so much black ink I will never use it up. This printer is an ink hog but if you are looking at this review you have already bought it. If not DONT. The yellow is more like the color of mustard than true yellow. I was desperate so I bought it. NOT WORTH IT.

Works very well for the intended purpose
My MB5420 all-in-one printer ran out of black ink in the middle of a print job. My local Staples didn't have any in stock, but I was able to find another Staples store nearby. Pickup availability was supposed to be in 1-hour but in 10 mins I received a email telling me that it was ready for me to pick-up.

It’s all about service
After struggling and wasting 90 minutes at a competitor, as well as time on their webpage, which ended up with two failed attempts to get this item, I then went to Staples. The manager, on her own, offered to check the back of the store for inventory. Bingo! In and out in five minutes so I bought some paper too. Thank you Staples

Excellent quality & pricing
This pack provides the BEST balance between quality and pricing. Remanufactured ones COULD be good and SUPER cheap, but they tend to be inconsistent and, at times, unpredictable. I've once ruined an inkjet printer with a poorly-remanufactured ink, so I generally avoid buying those.

The only safe option
I called Canon technical support soon after buying the Maxify MB5120 printer to ask about using compatible ink cartridges. The rep was very clear that Canon's technology required their own cartridges and that, while a compatible brand might work, the way the printer refuses to work if it doesn't recognize a new ink cartridge right away is a very real danger to the print...
