Best non digital scanner bar none!
I have two of these and am going to buy a third. While it has the worst user manual I have ever seen, it is still the best non digital scanner there is, period! Buy it, download an easier manual, program it with a PC, go through the learning curve and you will not be disappointed if you are a hardcore scanner nut. If your not a hardcore scanner nut, and you want a simpl...

For puzzle lovers only
I have been around shortwave receivers and scanners for 20+ years and was a computer programmer. By far, this is the most complicated and frustrating radio I have ever had the misfortune to own. Human interface is horrible, documentation is lousy and it is the worst radio related waste of money I have ever made.

Tons of Scanner for the price!
I have only had my BCT15X, for about a week. It's a wonderful Scanner. Take a little time, orient yourself with the Radio. Go on-line read the Manual. Very nice Scanner. It will take me some time to utilize all the independent features. GPS, Mapping, Etc. Soon, I am purchasing an additional unit for the Mobile.

Great scanner
This is a great mobile/base scanner. I use mine as a mobile and I could not be happier. The features are what make this scanner stand above the majority of the others. While it does demand a sharp learning curve, it is WELL worth the effort. Programming the scanner using only the scanner interface (not PC programming) can be very frustrating even for the ones who know h...

Great radio
I was worried what I would do when the ole PRO2006 died. I need not have worried this is a truly great radio for an unreal price. Get BC tool software for programing. This programs more like a commercial 2way radio. I have spent a few years working in 2way radio industry and this is not too bad. (Just get the software.) At this point I have two of these and getting a th...

Good, but poorly documented
I believe Uniden should listen to the feedback being given by a lot of the reviews here and on the web. Don't get me wrong - the BCT15X is a fantastic product. It has all the bells and whistles that a scanner enthusiast needs, but as sophisticated as it is, the documentation is so poor that you can't just turn it on and figure stuff out - which a lot of users would do. ...

Great model, taught me a thing or two
I know people are quick to slam this scanner because it may not be 100% self explanatory, but with all of the advanced features it has, I dont mind the tradeoff. This really a high end model and the price is a lot better now too. The buttons & screen are really cool to work.

Best Base/Mobile Scanner For Non-Digital Use(P-25)
I've had my BCT-15X for 2 months and yes..it is a learning curb but once you get used to it....you will NOT want anything else! The unit is built solidly...great audio, sensitivity and I wish I could put up a roof antenna but were I live...well that is not possible but I will get a Uniden Magnetic mount all band scanner antenna and put it outside the window on the air co...

BCT15xt very hard to program
This is the hardest scanner I have ever owned to program. Should have read reviews and I wouldn't spent the money on this one. Still trying to program, maybe someday I will have success. If you are a pro maybe you will get along with this, other wise stay away and keep your money.

Genuinely an aweful experience with this product
I've published 14 technical books - many of them writing on beta software. So I'm accustomed to figuring out technology and "bleeding", so-to-speak. I can honestly say that I've NEVER purchased a product that was so poorly documented or difficult to program. As a "newbie" to scanning, I became convinced by reading multiple web sites that this scanner would be a good pur...

very difficult to operate, no manual, no disc
I have owned many scanners, including Uniden. I had the first Bearcat that you had to program with switches. This one is so hard to use it is almost useless. The instructions I found on the web are really poor. Maybe it would work by programing it by computer. Just trying to monitor 50 or so channels is not worth the effort. The "state" feature is worthless. If you use ...

Great quility & features, impossible to operate
I have had more than 10 scanning radios from Bearcat/Uniden and all but this one was extreamly easy to program & operate. The BCT15X is impossible to program & opreate, I have put hours & hours into trying to figure it out & simply can't. Way too much complication to set-up, program & operate a simple channel bank, exit programming mode and listen to the channels. The p...

Good scanner for novice
First off I am a novice, I have listened to scanners for over 20 years now but not like the pros so I still learn everyday. This scanner though help bring me closer to knowing and hearing what the pros do. I have no cons for this scanner what so ever except one, no book included. The online book in lousy for the begginer or novice. Lucky for me I found a radio forum on ...
