Great attention holder!
My son received this as a gift at about 15 months and instantly was engaged with it. It was so cool to see him slowly learn how to put the pieces in, and which side needed to go in first. We pull this toy out anytime we need him to sit and play for a few solid minutes and he loves it. There are also numbers on each of the holes so as he gets older there will still be fu...

No replacement spikes = big problem
I bought this for my baby and she likes it okay. She mostly wants to chew on the spikes. So do our dogs. We lost 3 spikes to the dogs and I went on to see if replacement spikes are available. Lo and behold a bunch of reviews talking about how this has been a problem for years and Learning Resources has yet to do anything about it! Way to take a plastic toy that is alrea...

14 month old LOVES this toy
My 14 month old picked up the skill of pulling out the spikes and putting them back in very quickly, he loves this toy. One complaint is that he also uses the spikes for teething and he has ruined every spike by chewing on them. I wish they were made of a sturdier material or that replacement spikes were available.

Would not buy again.
This is a cute product but was overpriced for the quality. Was expecting more, The spikes are cheaply made. Thin plastic. Not worth what it cost.

Missing spikes.
I purchased Spike at a yard sale and was disappointed to discover it only had 9 spikes. I really wish you sold extra spikes. I think a few might be lost after a while. I would love to be able to buy extras.

Wish replacement spikes available
I thought this toy would be fun for the toddlers in my care. They mostly only use it as a teething toy. The 18 month old has split all the quills, chewing on them. The older children like sorting the quills and placing them. Unfortunately, the toy is now ruined by a child in the very age group the toy eas made for. And since a replacement package if quills is not availa...

Great toy for gross motor
My mom worked at an educational toy store for 21 years and told me to buy my 15 month adorable granddaughter this toy.
And the fact that the 'spikes' store inside the toy is the key

Great hit with grandchildren
My 18mth twin grandchildren absolutely loved Spike. Lovely colours and enjoyed "dressing" him with his spikes. Nice that the spikes can be stored inside his body for safe keeping. Delivery was very quick. Thank you.

Yes I would buy it again
This is a colourful toy, so good to look at. It is also quite light to carry. One and half year old, took to it quickly. He will also be able to use it for a little while longer when learning numbers and colours. You can also, test your child by asking them to place a peg in for example hole number 1, 2, 3, 4, to 12 and check whether they've got it right.

Such a great grow with me toy !
This toy was gifted to us when my daughter was 6 months and sitting up. She learning hand eye coordination, how to grasp the pegs singularly, and how to remove in a short month. Adult supervision was required when first learning but that did not last long as this is her go to toy now at 11 months. Would buy again.

Good
Good for kids. But the pieces get lost easily and eaten by my daughter and our cats! Sucks because we only have about 4 quills left!

Simple entertainment
We were gifted this hedgehog and he's a favorite with my 1.5 year old and 4 year old. My 1.5 yr old loves to simply put the quills in/out and my 4 year old likes the extension activities that it tells you about (counting with it and making patterns). As a speech therapist, I can see this being an easy reinforcement/reward game.

Like Spike? We LOVE Spike!
Our 21 month old daughter absolutely loves Spike! He is durable whilst still being cute, friendly and fun. The bright, colourful quills are of a size and shape that is easy for her to grasp, and manipulate into the numbered slots. The numbers ensure that she will have a next stage to develop to once she has mastered the colours.
During the time she has played with spi...

Like the Spike
Toys can be fun, but they can also be educational. In some cases an educational toy can forget to actually entertain a child. Learning Resources 'Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog' does not fall into this trap and despite the worthy name, it is first and foremost a fun toy for a toddler to play with.
The age range of 18+ months is about right for this toy, although unoffic...
