No cap?
There wasn't a cap on my ink cartridge. I'm concerned it will dry out prematurely. This is the first time I've ordered directly from HP. I would have expected this if it was a third party seller, but definitely not from the actual manufacturer.

I use only HP cartridges. My yellow one seems to go quicker than the others, so the last yellow one was completely depleted, It was good to get the yellow cartridge replaced - now working fine.

expensive
the ink runs out way to fast, we mostly print in black, and the black has only lasted us maybe 2 weeks. I can see this printer is going to cost us a lot more than the last machine.

I am sorry that your cartridge did not last as long as you'd have liked. I am sorry this happened to you.
Ink usage determines how long your cartridge lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
- Consider using XL cartridges. Most people say they are a much better value
- Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible
- Using the black-only setting will save on colored ink usage.
- Shut the printer down between uses
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That leaves time for "parking" so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
- Subscribe to Instant Ink, then you only pay by the page, not for the cartridges themselves
