One improvement
I purchased this machine for quilting and garment sewing. It does a great job and offers many stitch options. I did need to purchase some additional feet. The only issue is using the “automatic”needle threader. I’ve been practicing using this feature but I think I was successful only 10% of the time. Machine of my dreams!!!
I love this machine. It does a beautiful job and easy to use. I’ve got a Singer that I had nothing but trouble with. This Brother is a breeze. Love it.

Makes sewing fun
Comes with instruction manual. Easy to follow. Love the way the machine feels. This is the best machine I have owned. The fact it has the alphabet included is a plus. Would recommend this machine for a beginner or advanced person who sews

Sewing is fun !
This machine helped me as a beginner seamstress to sew like a pro( well semi-pro) I love the different stitch combinations and while

Brother's Sewing machine
I love my Brother's sewing machine. I started sewing at age 8 and this is one of the easiest machines that I have used. It sews great and has a lot of great features. I is easy for me to take to sewing groups.

Wish I could say better
I fairly satisfied with it for my first project. By the second project the dog feed stopped going up and down and was stuck in down so now I need to take it miles away for repair after 5 days or so of use… maybe a defective isolated case? I don’t know. Is my first machine, so it was pretty disappointing

Lots of useful features without going overboard.
I had an older Brother sewing machine that worked fine and met the needs I had for fixing a hole in a shirt, hemming some pants, or throwing together a pillow case for the odd sized pillow but recently I decided to add back sewing as a active hobby and became very aware of how many very useful functions were offered by the newer machines. Brother XR9550
The machine is suitable for routine everyday sewing but not the best for quilting due to the limited throat space. Also, the presser foot has limited action for thicker materials. Other than that, it is easy to use and is lightweight for handling, but you need to set it on a non skid pad as it tends to slide around while sewing.

Great machine not so great case.
I really love this machine. Does everything it says it will. The only thing I don't care for is that it says it comes with hard case and it does not. It has a lid but it does not latch on at all, doesn't even really sit on it either i can't call this a case sorry.

Case is not good
My grandma bought me this machine for Christmas and I love it. I’m 8. She bought this particular machine because it supposedly came with a hard case for bringing it to her house, and my foot can’t reach the foot pedal so I needed the speed slider and buttons on the front of the machine to operate it. Good and Bad
Everything works fine, but two things really bother me. I hate how the spool of thread goes on the machine. It's so awkward pulling the thread under and to the left to thread it. And I hate the presser foot lever. It's plastic, and uncomfortably rough, and only accessible with the right hand. I much prefer my older machine's (a Kenmore) metal, smooth lever accessibl...

Very Pleased
This machine was exactly what I wanted. I’m by no means an advanced seamstress but I enjoy sewing and wanted a machine that could do decorative stitching. The machine is very easy to use and I’ve been very happy with its capabilities thus far.
