Yes, learning how to manually set this up is pain
The mine used to drop out alot, I just use 2 bands and a acess point, does infrequently drop out.

Piece of junk
Indeed, it will not set up with Xfinity. Wasted a day with zero progress.

worked for a couple of months now worthless
it worked, all of a sudden it is not working.
I've spent a lot of time reset, updating drivers, should not be this hard.
Bad hardware.

failed after 3 months
this piece of crap stopped working after 3 months. The wifi doesnt work anymore but the ethernet still does. DO NOT BUY

Can’t change settings, setup, screen mirror fails
Difficult to setup out if the box. Need to register an email and password to change settings. Screen mirror does not work with default settings, and I am not doing a factory reset to login to 192.168.0.1. The unit has gone offline a number of times, requiring a power cycle to recover. I had a previous router that was flawless.

don't buy
purchased in january 2024, have done over 12 hard resets due to software login issues and unable to connect to random internet sites from my bookmarks using google chrome

5G drops every day
After about 12 months with no issues the 5GHz stops working but 2.4GHz still works. I have to pull the power every day and reset it to get 5GHz back

Will NOT Work on Optimum 1Gig Gateway 6
I just upgraded to 1Gig on Optimum with Gateway 6. The Arris G34 will not go above the 400 Mbps which it always has. The website shows the G34 works for 1Gig. It will not! Optimum said the G34 was not compatible. The modem needs to be Gateway 6. They sent me a new Altice 500g5 Gateway 6, and it works correctly.

Drops connection very often
I bought the G34 in April 2022. It was easy to setup and it provides great speed. Four months later, it started dropping the connection once in a while; I had to reset it and it started working again. Constantly Needs to be Reset
We’ve had multiple great router/modem combos from other brands. This is the only one that has been a nightmare to set up and use.

Keep dropping connection. Not recommended
Lot of interference from outside the modem. Tech support struggled to find a solution but nothing worked. They asked me to check with the provider xfinity to change the upstream QAM that did not work. Then they changed my 5G channels and 2.4G channels. but in vain. No other modem has this problem . Beware dont buy this one its a garbage.

Constant Reset
About 3 times a week I have to reset this modem. Prior this this I was using Netgear Model R6260 which was wifi 5 and a motorola modem with NO problems. This is the worst thing I have purchased for my pc.

Very disappointed in this product
Purchased the SURFboard G34 3.1 wireless modem about 1 year ago +/-. Until about 2 months ago, its been nothing but a headache. Have to reboot this modem 4-6 times per day. There is no pattern to the connectivity loss. Xfinity said to contact them every time we lost connection. Can’t connect devices on 5ghz band to printers
This router is incapable of connecting a mobile device (such as phone or tablet) that is connected on the 5ghz band to a wireless printer. Most wireless printers only have a 2.4ghz band. In order to print, you have to first switch your mobile device to the 2.4ghz band. I’ve owned several routers and this is the only router that has this issue.

Great speed, but reset twice already in a month
I bought it a month ago, and it worked great at first.
After two weeks, the connection had down while signal was good and ISP had no problem so I gotta reset this G34. After another two weeks, still with good signal, I couldnt connect the internet, and my ISP (xfinity) showed G34 is offline.

Keep having to reset
I enjoy the speed, but since the first week I had it I've had to reset it once a week at first and now almost every day in order to keep the speed, or any of our smart home features functioning.
