Prime in a zoom
Most will complain about how heavy it is and I think that depends on who's using it. I knew buying this lens that it would have some weight to it, especially if I plan on using it for long photographing session. The f/2 aperture of this lens paired with my R6 M III allows me to shoot in low light situations without having to crank up my ISO.

Fatty, BUT Amazing!
I bought this lens in 2024. I have small hands, but I manage to handle it ok.
It is on the heavier side, but the photos it produces are excellent!
It is a great portrait lens, but Landscape shots are amazing!
I would say GO TO A STORE so you can get a feel for it before purchasing. It's a fatty!! I considered sending it back, but I love the quality shots too much to d...

F2 sharpness worth the weight and control tradeoffs
Confirming what has already been said elsewhere. I'm using this lens paired with a R1 for mostly indoor sports photography (low-angle, under-the-net basketball shots). Lens is somewhat heavy, but not unexpected. Mass of lens doesn't throw off the center of balance significantly when paired with R1. Lens isn't overly heavy-- actively holding and zooming the lens for ...

Incredible lens, but impractical.
I applaud Canon for making this wild lens - I've never seen a normal zoom with an f/2 and the output has a prime quality in terms of subject isolation. Excellent color and sharpness for a zoom, though not quite prime level. The weight and sheer mass of this lens, however, negates its utility as a normal zoom for walk-around. It's difficult and awkward to hand hold due t...

Fatal flaw: horrible ergonomics for handholding
Fatal flaw with this lens is the zoom ring is so narrow and set back so it's very hard to handhold and zoom. Ergonomically it's awful to handhold given the weight.
Incredibly smooth bokeh and image quality. However, given the size and weight of this lens, I wish they would make more compromises in IQ to achieve a lighter, more versatile 2.0 zoom.

Amazing lens
I did a lot of looking and researching before I purchase this lens and it has far exceeded my expectations when everyone tells you it’s large and heavy they’re not exaggerating, but it has taken my indoor volleyball pictures to a new level.

Just Great.
Love the look of the images. Paired with an R5 I often get images that look more like film. Great focal range for people, cityscape, mountains landscapes. I do a lot of night photography as well and night cityscape and astro both work well with this. The clarity brings out stars you didn't realize were there.

THE BEST ZOOM LENS for RF cameras.
We have this lens at work and i LOVE it! can't wait to get one for myself and my own business. The picture quality is superb and grabs the faces clearly while leaving the background soft and muted. It's lovely - and surprisingly, much better than the 24-70 - the proportions of faces and bodies are always more complimentary.
Only draw back is that it s Heavy - so be pre...

The 28-70 exceeded all my expectations
This lens is incredible!! I cannot say enough good things about the 28-70. I use this lens paired with my Canon R6 for mostly wedding and portrait photography. The auto focus is wicked fast, the photos are always tack sharp, and the bokeh is very beautiful. I’ve always preferred prime lenses. I was unsure if this lens would be good enough to replace the need to carry ar...

If there was only one lens to pick..
this was the first RF lens I bought. It's heavy and the complaints end there. this is the most versatile and sharp lens I've ever owned. its multiple primes in one!!
If I had to choose only one lens of all lenses on earth it wold hands down be this.

By far my favorite of all my lenses. Razor sharp, great contrast, color and superior overall performance. A heavy weight pro level tool. Love this lens. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Killing Shots!!! Canon on point!!!

It's Big and Heavy, but Will Be a Time Saver
I have used this lens for two different studio sessions and have shot roughly 500 images with it up to this point. The other reviews are pretty much spot on with this lens. It is heavy, and after about 4 hours, you will know it's there. However, when mounted to an R5 with a battery grip, the overall weight doesn't get in the way of doing things, it just tires you out...

Awesome HEAVYWEIGHT
I wasn’t sure if I should keep this lens after suffering terrible back ache after the first long shoot day at a friend’s party in London, but the capability and the images are so fantastic that I thought I will get used using the lens. It’s my best tool so far.
Excellent quality
