The Best Macro
I bought this lens about three weeks ago and it is amazing. Combined with the Canon ring light it can produce stunning macro images.

Super sharp lens.
This Canon EF 100mm 2.8 L portrait lens is exceptionally sharp. Because of its wide focusing range in take a little time to lock focus but in not a problem. It is an excellent close up lens and a great portrait lens as well. It's fairly compact but does sport a super large lens hood that can be annoying. The new RF version is excellent as well but it is not compatible i...

Learning experience
Just started using this lense but works very good. Still learning some things about it. Have a 70-210 macro lense for my Minolta 202 slr that I love. The canon lense is just as good.

A joy To use !
This lens is a real joy to use with excellent, solid, and well balanced build quality - sharp and reliable focus - longer, more useful, distance to subject than many other macro lenses - super color and white balance with reliable, repeatable results. Worth the cost. Just plain good. You will enjoy this lens. My customers and friends are impressed with my macro work...

New to Macro, Let's Go!
Purchased this Macro lens to capture more close-ups photos. Just starting to explore the settings, lighting, etc. to capture clear photos, better to use a tripod to omit any blur.

Challenge, but Worth it!
This lens was a gift from my wife for our 29th Anniversary. I have always had a fascination with macro related subjects and now I can finally try it out. Challenging, but very rewarding using something of this quality. After the first couple of shots, the price tag was easily dismissed.

Macro that works perfectly
Beautiful macro lens that provides ultra sharp close up photography. Great for general non-macro use as well. Hood is a bit large for this type of lens, but easy to shoot without it, if too bulky.

This is a fantastic lens
The EF 100mm f/2.8 L is an amazingly good lens. It is sharp, balances beautifully on my DSLR and has outstanding image stabilization. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time with this lens in the future.

A lens you love right away
The EF 100mm 2.8L is a lens that you love right away. I've only had it a couple of weeks, but it's won my heart because it is such a delightful instrument to use.
Walking around the garden or through the neighborhood, you can get great macro photos without *having* to set up the tripod. The focal length suits photographing flowers--you don't have to get too close and y...

$1299.00 !? Really?
A price hike by almost 50%? Yesterday it was 'out of stock' at $899, today it is 'in stock' at $1299. Wow! Kinda makes you want to look at Tamron or Sigma. Doesn't it?

Superb handling, great image quality and powerful image stabilization
This legacy EF optic may surprise you with its sophistication: Hybrid IS works superlatively on the EOS R to quell the worst of my hand shake -about 4 stops in the real world. It's also quite ergonomic, with controls that fall easily to hand and a buttery, long-throw manual focus ring that's very precise.
