Crayola crayons are the best. The coloring does not flake, it is smooth. How dark the color shows up on the paper depends on the amount of pressure you use and it's still smooth, not flakey.

Color on paper not walls
I got these for granddaughter who lives to color! She loves the crayons and does great coloring on paper. But, when I wasn’t looking she started coloring the white kitchen door! I was able to get it the crayon off but it took some time!
