Did not perform as advertised
I bought this thinking it would last longer than the smaller cartridge. I got less than 30 printed pages. Office Jet Pro 8500 constantly is cleaning the printheads, etc. using up ink as if it were water.

I find it handy to purchase all four HP940 inks with the large black cartridge. Although I use more black, it turns out that the yellow ink is part of the black laid down on paper, so it makes sense to buy yellow at same time. So Efficient to buy HP HighYield Ink...
It's quite efficient to buy HP's High Yield Ink, not only in Black, but in all colors (Cyan. Magenta and Yellow) because it lasts so much longer and you don't have to change the ink cartridges as often.
HP has always been an industry leader and I prefer to buy their genuine ink, and not refurbished, cartridges

HP 940XL/940 Ink Jet Cartridges
These HPcartridges provide deep rich colors...the most important feature for the quality of your print-outs and pictures. Never dull. Very easy to insert and remove from the printer. The 4-pack of color prevents running out of individual colors at critical times. I've been using these for the past 6 years. Excellent value. Highly recommend!

HP 940XL/940 Black and Colour Ink Cartri
Very unhappy. The 3 coloured ink packs lasted half a day! My printer (HP OJ 8500) needs more frequent print head cleaning. After half a day of cleaning the print heads, the ink from 3 brand new colour packs is all gone and my printer is still not printing.

HP all the time, yes you can get the no frills for a little less but run the risk of ruining printer mechanism. clip the coupons bring back the cartridges and remember you get what you pay for.

Although I think the pricing for "genuine" HP cartridges is pretty ridiculous, (approaching the cost of an entire printer), they do perform better (possibly a design part of the HP system which continually warns that the refill may damage their machine or the machine refuses to print with a refill) and tend to last longer than the refills - regardless of who refills the...

Easy compact package!

I appreciate that I can always count on the consistency in product with Hewlett Packard. We have an Office jet All in One copier/ fax/scanner with wireless connection. Love it! With reguler use we have not had any problems with the ink or ink jets. I appreciate I can replace all of it myself without having to take it in or having a technician come out.

After meeting the purchase of HP requirement to quality for a $15 ITunes card I was very disappointed to learn that the Staples store has run out of this special and did not offer anything else in return; nowhere in the add did it say "while supplies last".
