Inexpensive but a bit flimsy
I bought these for a mass promotion to contain materials but they did not need to go through the mail. They were inexpensive but many have no glue on the seam up the middle on the back of the envelope. They'll work fine for this project but would be too flimsy to use for mailing without serious tape and re enforcement.

Inexpensive but doesn't seal well
We received these very quickly, which is what we were looking for. However, they do not seal well. We ended up using tape on them.

You have to know how much moisture is needed to get the flap to stick.
The 9x12" gummed catalog envelopes, work just fine. As far as the gummed part, you have to know how much moisture is needed to get the flap to stick. I have always use a piece of tape on any catalog envelope, be it gummed or self seal. I do it to insure that it arrives safe to our clients.

Large gummed-flap envelopes
These have just the right weight that I need, but I would prefer it if the gum on the flap went all the way across the flap. There is a space in the center, about an inch wide, where there is no gum, which can allow the flap to be torn during transit. I use these for holding paperwork for each file. Only thing I do is cut the flap off.

These are perfect for our needs. We use the Scotch Double Sided Adhesive Roller to attach our business card to the front at the time of Move In & write their Unit # on the envelope as well. All their paperwork fits very nicely inside. The only thing that would make them better would be to have them in bright lime green or orange.
