Horrible Design
This dispense is difficult to load and, once loaded, is even harder to use. The cutting blade is set back for your protection, but it is set back too far to cut effectively. Even when you push the spring back all the way to release the blade, the tape still barely touches the blade. You need three hands to operate what should be a very simple machine. I would never ...

Stay Away, doesn’t work
If I could give it no stars I would. My very old and reliable tape dispenser broke so I bought this one. I normally read reviews before making purchases but given it said Scotch and 3M I trusted it had to be the best. WRONG. The tape does not cut off. Twist of the wrist critical for cutting tape
I had a lot of difficulty with this model because it was not like my older (lost) one. I couldn't figure out how to cut the tape. After reading the response to the poor ratings, I see that a twist of the wrist is critical to cut the tape. Piece of junk!
Wish I had read the reviews before buying! Totally agree with everyone , this model is a piece of junk. I think the safety shield is too big and hides the blade. I’m wasting more tape trying to cut it then I’m using to seal the boxes.

DOES NOT CUT!
As other reviews mention, this tape dispenser does not cut the tape. So frustrating. This dispenser is not inexpensive, and yet I am having to use scissors with it. The previous Scotch dispenser I had for years, was awesome. This one is terrible! I'm so sorry I threw away the receipt.

Unfortunately for me I did not check reviews before purchasing this dispenser. I thought it would be better than the one I had, but much to my dismay it was not! No matter how I try to cut the tape it does not cut, merely puts dents in my boxes and then I have to use scissors. I don't like it at all. Terrible, won't cut tape
Will not cut tape, horrible design, do not buy. I've tried watching videos on how to make this thing work and it doesn't help. Blade doesn't come out far enough to cut the tape. Awful design

I have had many functional dispensers over the years. This is not one of them. It is frustrating, doesn't work at all and you need scissors and an extra hand to get the tape

Avoid at all costs
I'm moving and bought a new tape gun to expedite the process. This has actually made it more difficult. As everyone else has said, this DOES NOT CUT TAPE. Either 3m tested this with junk tape or they're hoping the blade will somehow caress the tape apart. Easily and literally the worst tape gun I've used in my life.

Design is Flawed
Its a sturdy gun but the blade does not extend out far enough to cut the tape. If you press it against the box you could end up cutting into the box itself. The product should have been better tested.

Would not buy, returning to store tomorrow
I bought this product today to assemble packing boxes for upcoming move. I could not get the dispenser to cut the tape that came with the dispenser. Pushing against box and twisting wrist did not work, had to cut with scissors. Total pain!

Does not cut the tape.
This tape gun is terrible. It doesn't cut the tape. What a waste of money and waste of tape. Very dissatisfied with this product. Definitely not worth the 3m price.

Waste of money!
After buying this dispenser to replace a great older one I had for years, I was thoroughly disappointed and had to use scissors to cut the tape! What to do with 3 large rolls of replacement tape when this dispenser is going in the trash! :(

DO NOT BUY
This is quite possibly the worst tape gun on the planet. It jams, won't cut and for some reason you have to tighten the tape roll so much that then the tape won't stick to the boxes when you try to actually take something. Bummed I lost this receipt because not only would I ask for my money back, I'd ask for an additional fee for wasting what has to be hours of my life ...

Great Product if Your Aim is Wasting Lots of Tape
Everytime I tighten the tension knob (so that the tape won't just coming and coming), within a few more 'tapings' it's completely loose again and the tape just keep coming out forever and ever no matter how hard I try to cut it off. (You had one job, tension knob!) Everything sucks, but luckily China (and 3M CEO) are (more than) OK. Phew.

I hate this dispenser
This is the first inanimate object that has successfully gaslit me. I thought I was just a moron for wasting yards of tape not being able to cut until I saw everyone else had the same problem. Save yourself hassle and keep a pair of scissors handy when using this.
