Product does a nice inexpensive job for a managed switch. Instruction manual is indepth and well documented; however would be nice for a section to give case and best usage info would be helpful for the less technical as some of the options need little better definition. All-in-all would buy again. Java plugin works with IE but via Switch View it doesn't for EDGE.

Original and warranty units all failed.
I bought one of these a few years ago because of the POE PD feature.I was disappointed to find that an internet connection is required to "unlock" any useful functionality. Once you've done that, make sure you don't do the reset to factory settings because you might find that Netgear support has trouble getting you a new code. That's just the start. Wonderfull switch, Terrible support experience
This is a great switch, easy to configure works well. However, I went to mount it on the wall with the screw slots provided in the back. Slid the switch on and it stoped working. Performance is great, gui is not
Folks, if you could change the GUI, particularly the VLAN advanced settings so that you can view and modify more VLANs at once, instead of working them on by one, that would help. the GUI is not very user-friendly. Other than that its a great little product.

Setup was a little tough
Everything worked well, however it was very hard to change the management vlan like I needed to. It took me about 3-4 times before I could find the correct combination to make it work correctly.

Solid switch

Excellent switch
This is my second Netgear product. I use it in my home office and I have a computer, printer, Ooma phone, and Network backup device connected. Installation was easy. Highly recommended.

Managed switch with VLAN!
This is a managed gigabit switch with VLAN support and a web interface. I don't like the fact that this has to be registered, and the setup was unnecessarily complicated. But hey, it supports VLANs and is programmable port by port, so that I can have two separate VLANS running independently that share one internet connection at home. Great hardware.
Purchased this to replace a cheap Gigabit switch for my home network that wasn't really giving me full speed. It was easy to setup and manage. Full speed out of the gate.

Easy to install and great Product
I was able to install and configure NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Pro Switch in very low time and ease of use interface. Excellent for a small office and home office use.

My First Switch
This switch is just what i was looking for. this year I have been learning as much as I can about computers. I have a number of devices that Im using in my home. So I bought a switch to expand my network. Its a managed switch giving me more expansion to my recent education in technology. But simple enough to just plug in and use if want to keep it simple. Simple Install and Works Good
Simple install and works good. However, I misread the advertising and thought it had 7 powered POE ports. It does not. Fortunately, I was going to be ordering a non-POE switch, so it was not a big deal for me.
