Works
Remember this is at theoretical maximum a 5 Gbps spec cable. That being said I have tested it with multiple times on multiple ports of a TP-Link hub using AJA System Lite saw Writes at 416MB/s and Reads @ 433MB/s.

May not work for coning drives
This adaptor reports the disk model as ASImedia, rather than the actual drive that is attached. This is a disadvantage when attempting to clone drives. For example Acronis True Image for Crucial will not run unless it detects a Crucial drive attached. This adaptor is not useful for my application.

Disappointing
I would suspect this cable should work according to its description, but unfortunately I hooked it up and my computer would not read the hard drive... very disappointing. I had to take my drive to a computer shop and pay over $50 to retrieve two things I needed. The shop had a stronger cable that provided power to the hard drive. I don't think this one does that to the ...

Response from Staples :
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. USB3S2SAT3CB is designed for use with 2.5" (laptop size) HDD / SSD (most). Due to the 5V power limitation of the USB host, it cannot be used with 3.5" (desktop size) drives or drives that require more than 5V. Brandon, StarTech.com Support

Works very well
I received this adapter a few weeks back, but had to wait for the SSD to arrive. So a couple of days ago the SSD, a kingston A400 240 GB, arrived and I hooked it up to my Raspberry Pi 400, using the USB3S2SAT3CB. It's working like a charm from the start and reaches very satisfying data transfer rates. So all in all I'm very happy with this product, also because it suppo...

Functional
After using this, I can say that it works exactly as it should. Transfer speeds are fine, and it had no issues while being used to clone drives. The product feels very high quality, and has a nice, dim indicator light to see if the drive is being used. The cable is a reasonable length, and the connections feel solid. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs...

SSD Trim Compatible
One of the best USB3.0 to SATA3 cables out there, It works faultlessly with SATA-3 SSDs and 2.5in mechanical drives but I would not expect it to work with 3.5in drives due to the limited power available from a single USB 3.0 port.
This cable is one of the few that supports trimming SSDs over USB 3.0. If using fstrim with Linux, a udev rule may be needed. Instructions ...

Great for SSD on Raspberry Pi4
I have a few of these to connect Samsung SSDs to my Raspberry Pi4's. Since these can boot from a USB3 connected device, I have no SDcards in use at all. I am getting reads around 350MB/s and thats just amazing. Stay away from BOT USB2SATA adapters as the throughput isn't the only issue, also the response time is worse.

Completely disappointed
Item did not fit securely into my drive. Was not able to connect it at all. When I went to return it I was told I was outside the 14 day limit—which in the time of pandemic ought to be relaxed. So not able to return not able to use. Expensive piece of electronic recycling.

I hope it helps
At first it did not show a drive in windows explorer.
I was thinking of writing a bad review, but then I opened Computer Manager/Disk Administration, turned out that the main volume on the drive did not have a partition

Response from Staples :
We apologize that our USB3S2SAT3CB is not working with your Samsung 860 QVO. This adapter is compatible with 2.5" drives that draw 900mA or less power as that is the maximum amount of power that USB 3.0 supports. Depending on the size of the drive you're using, the 860 QVO may require up to 1.08A power when powering on or under heavy load which may be causing the problem you're seeing. If you find that the adapter is not working with other drives either though, you may have a faulty adapter. We'd be happy to help look into this with you. You can contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

WORTHLESS PRODUCT. Should be a zero star rating!
No where in the description of this product do they say the adapter doesn't supply the power needed to make the transfer of files work from one device to another. This is an April Fools Day product. Here, I'll sell you this and pocket your money, leaving you empty handed. Wasn't that fun? NOT! Stay as far away from this product as you can!!!!!

Response from Staples :
Hello Chris,
We pride ourselves on our high-quality standards and are sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with our USB3S2SAT3CB. This adapter is only compatible with 2.5" drives and does not work with 3.5" drives due to the power requirements of 3.5" drives. If you're having difficulties with a 2.5" drive we're happy to help get the adapter working. If, however, you have a 3.5" drive, we recommend using an adapter that has a separate power adapter, such as our USB3SSATAIDE. If you require assistance, please feel free to contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.
