ASSOCIATE TEACHER
Location: Staples Child Care Center, 600 Staples Drive,
Framingham, MA 01701
Reports to: Director of the Child Care Center

Summary: An Associate Teacher’s primary responsibility, under the guidance of the Teacher, is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. An Associate Teacher will review important decisions with his/her supervisor, and is accountable for maintaining positive relationships with parents, children and co–workers. 

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Positive and respectful interactions with children
  • Implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Positive and respectful interactions with parents and co–workers
  • Maintaining and following all safety and health rules of the center, including state and federal requirements
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age, or have a high school degree or GED, or in a supervised work study program with approval from Bright Horizons Family Solutions
  • Meet federal, as well as individual state requirements, (i.e., TB test, current physical, OSHA, first aid) and maintain credentials for the position (i.e., ongoing training). Experience working with young children as a nanny; camp, swimming, or gymnastic instructor; or in high school vocational program, etc.

TEACHER

Reports to: Director of the Child Care Center

Summary: A Lead Teacher’s primary responsibility is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. A Lead Teacher will review important decisions with his/her supervisor, and is accountable for maintaining positive relationships with parents, children and co–workers. 

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Positive and respectful interactions with children
  • Implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Positive and respectful interactions with parents and co–workers
  • Maintaining and following all safety and health rules of the center, including state and federal requirements
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age, or have a high school degree or GED
  • Meet federal, as well as individual state requirements (i.e., TB test, current physical, OSHA, and maintain credentials for the position (i.e., ongoing training)
  • A minimum of one college level early childhood course, unless state licensing credential, certificate or required course work exceeds this requirement Preferred educational requirements:
    • Related Degree (Masters, Bachelors, or Associates) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child and Family Studies or related field including, Elementary Education, Special Education, or Psychology with relevant course work.
    • Child Development Associate (CDA)
    • Unrelated Degree (Masters, Bachelors, or Associates) with relevant course work
  • Verify the following experience requirement: One year child development work experience in a school, kindergarten or licensed child care/family child care setting. (One supervised student teaching practicum is equal to one year child development work experience.)
  • With Bright Horizons Family Solutions approval, extensive teaching experience may substitute for education requirements, provided a professional development plan is in place.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum practice.
